I rent an apartment with my friends in NH. This weekend we broke our lease by having a fire in our yard. The police, fire department, were called they came and made us put out the fire, the landlord also showed explaining that an eviction notice would be served on Monday morning. Our house is zoned as a boarding house, we each rent out a room and share a common bathroom and living room. Can my landlord evict everyone in the house, even tenants who weren't home at the time of the fire.

were you the cause of the fire????

The landlord is probably just trying to cover his rear by evicting everyone untill someone fesses up to it, and how much damage was done?

Maybe he doent have Insurance to cover a boarding house which is far more expensive then just regular homeowners.

eviction

Yes we were the cause of the fire. There was no damage done, the fire was held in the dirt parking lot, the police took the names of the tenants who were home at the time of the fire. We all rented the house together and we are all on one lease, but we are assigned a room, and one of us had to be designated as the house manager. If someone owns up to the fire, can he still evict everyone.
