What is the name of your state? Washington State
I've been convicted of drug dealings, as well as possessions of drugs.. The law is that i can't recieve financial aid due to me having 3 drug charges. I have been saved, filled with the spirit of the LORD for 4 1\2 years, as well as no crimes for over 6 years. what is the law on this matter?

cogratulations on your positive change in life. since there is a separation between church and state, your salvation or filling with the HS doesn't affect your responsibility under the law. It is possible, under some circumstances that your record may be expunged. This may or may not help your situation as the records still exist but your reference to them changes
Here is a link to information: Washington Expungement Law Summary ... You may request deletion or expungement of Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) in the Washington State Patrol (WSP) if: (1) the file consists only of non ...

In 1998, Congress passed an amendment to the 'Higher Education Act' (originally made into law in 1965). This amendment was authored by Rep. Mark Souder and denies federal financial aid to any student with a drug conviction and is based on the number of convictions.

In general, this amendment has two separate issues, possession and sales.
For possession, you are ineligible from the date of conviction for one year on first offense, 2 years for second offense and indefinitely on your third or more offenses.
For sales, you are ineligible from the date of conviction for two years on first offense and indefinitely on your second or more offenses.

Bottom line.... we (the non-drug dealing, using citizens) refuse to pay for your higher education, since you made the decision to deal drugs. Pretty simple, huh??

It is also possible to qualify for fed aid if you attend a state approved rehab. On the FAFSA it asks if you have drug charges. If you answer yes, it does not automatically disqualify you. You would be sent additional paperwork and that will determine the possible financial aid. Use Google and do a search. It will explain it more in depth.
