Ex trying to take my house

4 years ago, boyfriend and I bought condo together. Shortly before closing we broke up - as friends. Closed on condo anyway. He is on mortgage and title to property. He has never lived there, paid mortgage, taxes, etc, but I have. He has own residence (aparatment). Recently, he was injured and needed to be cared for, so I agreed to let him stay with me temporarily. My current boyfriend is supposed to move in with me end of next month. Ex went through my cellphone messages and found out about new boyfriend moving in and began argument with me, stating that it was his house and he wasn't moving out. Neighbors called police due to argument noise. Because ex's brother is lieutenant of force, he answered call and made me leave the house stating that ex was in no condition to drive. (although he drives regularly). Ultimately, I have been forcilby removed from a home I have paid for and maintained on my own for 4 years and ex is refusing to leave. (he also says he's keeping my cat which we bought when we were together). I don't know why he's doing this. I know he has rights as a signor on the mortgage and title, but don't I have any options considering the circumstances? He left me VM stating that he wanted to give me my "options". I don't know what they are yet because I want advice before I talk to him.
Do I have ANY recourse in this? I don't want to sell my house, I am willing to pay him some equity if need be, but I don't think he's doing this over money. I think he's doing this as a control issue and does not have plans to play nice.
Help!

The options are for you to buy him out or he buys you out. Otherwise , you can file suit to have the property sold. You need an attorney, like 4 years ago.

I keep reading about this partition action. I looked it up and it seems like it would work for my situation. Do you think a judge would see this issue the way I see it? Like I said, I don't mind paying him a few thousand in equity, but I don't want to pay him 10 grand to buy him out of a house he's never once contributed to.

You won't have much choice in the matter. If you want to keep the house you will have to have it appraised to see what the value is. Then you will have to pay him his half of the equity in the home to buy him out.

A partition suit will cost you thousands and probably more than it would cost to buy him out.
