Hello - I am just curious if there is anything I can do to legally get my husband's ex-wife to stop running her mouth about my husband and me? She left my husband after 15 years of marriage for another man. At the time she never mentioned to anyone being abused or cheated on and my husband, in fact, actually had to file an ex-parte order against her for throwing things and hitting him. We live in small town America and everyone is fully aware of the true circumstances, however, she now has changed her story from eight years ago and is telling people that my husband cheated on her with me (I came along well after the fact) and that he beat her (completely false accusations) and that it is our fault that their daughter has "black friends", that I am a "conniving B*#ch", that we are "poor parents", that it is our fault she "has no money", etc.... She has even been holding a "Bible Study" in her home in which I have apparently been the topic of her conversations. The stories just keep getting bigger and more elaborate despite our efforts to avoid her. Some of you reading this may think I only know one side of the story but nothing could be further from the truth. I knew both of them well before my husband and I began our relationship and am fully aware of the truth. The things she says about us our very defamatory and has caused problems for us with other people, our church and other organizations in our town. Fortunately, his children are fully aware of her lies and it has not affected our relationship with them (they are with us 50% of the time or more) but it really bothers me to have to go through this and I really just want to somehow put an end to it! Any suggestions?
