Hey everyone,
So I was divorced in January 2015 and in the divorce agreement we reached, I agreed to pay my wife $3,500 by January 1st, 2016 and she agreed to sign a quit-claim deed for the house we bought while married. As we went through a mediator, I gave the cashier's check to the mediator to hold onto until she until into their office to sign the quit-claim deed. I turned in the check in near the end of October 2015 and the mediator has called her, sent letters and emails to her but she has yet to show up or even respond to the mediator's office. I am now thinking I need to file with the courts to legally require her to come in and sign the paperwork. Do I need a lawyer to complete this type of request? I am also interested in setting a time limit she has to pick up the cashier's check before it is returned to me legally. Would that be a possibility or am I just being a wishful thinker?
Thanks!
