We live in Ga. My ex and I have been divorced for several months now. In the divorce there were two debts listed that he had to pay by April 1, 2013. He paid one of them but not the other. He says he now refuses to pay and has given a dozen reasons why but the fact remains that he agreed to pay them in the divorce. He told me today the second debt which he didn't pay happened before our marriage and was from a joint account. Im not sure if this is true yet. If it is true then can he get out of paying it? If its not true then what should I do because its past April 1st now and the debt is still active?

If these debts are in your name (jointly or individually) then the creditors can/will expect you to pay. They are not bound by the divorce order (they are not a part of your divorce.) If you want to avoid past-due penalties and possible credit reporting, you will need to pay it and then seek reimbursement from your ex by way of a contempt hearing.
