My stepdaughter finally escaped from a brutal husband of 16 years and had to pay alimony for 5 years.
She has since learned that he took out life insurance on her for $250,000 and he is listed as the beneficiary (but he says it is for the children, whom are nearly grown). This policy was purchased after the divorce.
The alimony payments have now expired, and I fear for her life since he nearly killed her on many occassions.
Can she change the beneficiary? Is there anything she can do to protect herself?
