What is the name of your state? California,

Is it legal to grant a continuance/delay an exparte hearing? We had one set with the court for January 11th. My ex husband's attorney called my attorney and requested a continuance until the 24th. My attorney granted this without consulting me first. My son is in danger of being abducted by my ex-husband and here we sit waiting for our new court date. I am told by the DA, social services and by my son's counselor that it is not legal to delay an emergency hearing.

Please advise, Susan in California.
