My Fiancee and his ex were divorced a year ago. She hired an attorney and he agreed to pay 50% of the divorce cost which was transferred from his parents into the ex's bank account. (R5000.00)

Since then the ex caused endless trouble constantly issuing letters of demand from her lawyers for petty things, she stopped him seeing their son and my fiance attempted to get advice from her lawyer, they refused to talk to him saying that they were HER appointed lawyer not his.

Needless to say the divorce took longer than it should.

A year later, my fiance receives an account for R21000.00 saying that he contested the divorce and that he must pay her laywer???? We refused to accept the registered letter.

He never contested at all and her lawyers have nothing in writing from him to say he did - he wanted it over and done with....

Can they do this or are they trying their luck? We know for a fact that the ex cannot afford to pay the fees she mounted up with her childishness as she has recently been fired from her job for embezzling money and is awaiting a court date.

Please advise.

Thank you.

And it's none of your business anyway. Have your boyfriend find a forum for the law in your country and post there.
