Florida. We signed a contract so the house will close on the 14th of June, but we are required to get rid of all of the furniture in the house before new owners move in. My mom, who lives there is moving back to Connecticut. I will fly down to get rid of furniture ( I already contacted a few people) For safety i want to get rid of the furniture a few days early but my mom might have to move into a hotel and she is 90. I was thinking can we extend the closing date a week or so? This will solve our problem.

Thanks

that is a negotiable item.

There are several reasons I can think of that would make extending a closing not a realistic possibility. I can think of a few reasons it would cost the buyer to extend the closing date and they may refuse without compensation. Asking your mother's agent to investigate the possibility would be the thing to do.

Realize though that your mother contracted for that closing date. Without agreement from the buyers, the closing date is NOT going to be extended or your mother will be in breach. And you need to know if there is a penalty in the contract that will cost your mother money if the house does not close due to her fault on the 14th of June.

Who is the "we" that signed the purchase agreement? What does said purchase agreement state about the seller cancelling the transaction?

And the answer now is no, not without incurring some significant financial penalties.
