What is the name of your state?AZ

Hello evreyone, I bought a 2003 mitsubishi montero sport with only 300 miles from a mitsubishi in dealer in Arizona, approximately 1 year ago. I tried to trade in the vehicle today at a dealer in Texas, and was told that the trade in value was much lower because the driver door had been re painted. The dealer never disclosed this information to me when I bought the vehicle, and he told me that the vehicle was new and that it was much cheaper because it was the only 2003 left on the lot. Is there anything I can do on my part? If I call the dealer what would they be able to do for me? The trade in value went down considerably according to the dealer in Texas. Any reply would be appreciated.

Thanks

And who said the truck wasn't new? Door repaints are ridiculously common on new vehicles because in dealer lots, people ding, scrape, scratch, chip and otherwise mess the paint up pretty damn good all the time.

Talk to the dealer you bought it from and maybe you can talk them into doing a better repaint, but that's about all you could reasonably expect.

It is also very common for cars to arrive damage repaired. The factory has their own repair station and does their best to repair dents and dings. We received many damaged and then repaired vehicles right off the transit truck.

What makes you believe it was damaged? The paint doesn't match? CarFAX report? Body Putty? etc?

I always recommend that whenever you purchase a vehicle to have a mechanic inspect it - this includes a brand new vehicle too. There are many things that if not inspected immediately, you can lose. Dents, dings, and scratches are one thing that will not be repaired by the dealer once you take it off the lot.
