What is the name of your state? washington

Does anyone know the statute of limitations on credit card debt.

Also if the fair debt collection laws are broken does that prevent a
collector from continuing to collect the debt?

Can they legally go get a judgment against you when they have not sent you the required motion for default? They filed it in court but did not send it to us.

In Wa. the SOL appears to be 3 years on credit cards.

STATE: WASHINGTON †
INTEREST RATE

Legal: 12%
Judgment: 12%
STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS (IN YEARS)

Open Acct.: 3
Written Contract: 6
Domestic Judgment: 10
Foreign Judgment: 10
BAD CHECK LAWS

The violation of the FDCPA and the validity of the debt are 2 separate issues. Responding to a lawsuit with FDCPA violations is a good way to lose a lawsuit. I suspect that's what happened to you. You would need to file a separate action against the CA for FDCPA violations. However, there is a 1 year time period to sue for violations of the FDCPA or, the CA can claim an SOL defense.
I've no idea what Wa. State law says about being notified about a default judgment.
