What is the name of your state? Connecticut
I have been in a long-term same-sex relationship for going on five years. My partner was previously married... his divorce was final eight years ago. His ex-wife has been extremely uncooperative with him since and contested the visitation rights he has had with his three children, now 19, 17 and 13.
Recently, he asked the kids if they would like to change the amount of time he spends with them. They came up with a schedule that they wanted to implement. The ex-wife refused to be amicable and forced the issue into court.
Yesterday, the judge ordered my partner and his ex to meet with a family counselor. When the ex realized she didn't have any reasons to contest the change, she began claiming that one of the children had be molested when they were three. Later, in an e-mail, she named me as the perpetrator.
Not surprisingly, she didn't do her math correctly: my partner was still married to her when each of the children were three. She immediately changed her story and said it was the youngest of the three children and it happened when he was five. She claims I "inappropriately touched" the child while we were at a local amusement park.
The amusement park trip occured when the child was eight. I hope it's obvious to anyone reading that the woman was grasping for straws and created this lie in hopes that it would somehow help her case.
Needless to say, I'm outraged. I'd like to demand a written retraction and apology from her. Do I have the legal right to do so? Furthermore, if she decides to press this issue, do I have a valid lawsuit against her?
