I am from Illinois. Going through a divorce. My wife is a citizen. She is falsely alleging that I married her for a green card. I did not. It never was the intention. I started the divorce proceeding in 3 months of getting married due to various reasons. If I had married her for the GC then I would have started applying for it. Or if that was my cruel intention then I would have atleast got the card and then proceeded to divorce her.

Anyways, can this be grounds for annulment? This would have to proven right? I do not want to ruin my record with the government and mess up my future opportunities to be a permanent resident.

Any advice on how to handle this? My lawyer thinks that this is not going to be a cause for worry as there is no such proof. I still feel that they are mean and can try to damage my hard established career and stay in the states. Please advise. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

A divorce, so soon after marriage, along with the testimony of your wife, could be used against your future attempt at citizenship.

But if she didn't sponsor you and you didn't even apply for a green card it would be difficult for her to get anywhere with those claims.
