My wife was appointed executor of her sister's will. It is a very strong will. Her husband is disinherited from receiving any of her half. All of her half goes to her kids in trusts until they are 18 and her church. However, her husband has taken it upon himself to go around telling everyone and their neighbor that my wife stands to benefit from the will. That she is essentially taking away money from him and his kids.

He has even said that he is sueing our family for attempting to take his money. Of course, I'm not using his exact language (profanity mixed) when he told my wife this in person. We also have witnesses and people have come forth whom he has told these lies to.

Does my wife have any recourse as far as defamation of character given that he admitted to telling people that she stands to benefit from this will of her sister's? We don't want money but we want him to stop these false allegations as they are damaging my wife's character. How can we stop him from doing this?
