What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania

My wife was notified that a janitor at her work made a claim (not sure if it is in writing) that she yelled at, cursed at, and threw garbage at said janitor. She was called down to security and questioned. There were three witnesses around when this event was supposed to have happened and of course none of them saw anything because the event never took place.
My wife filed a complaint with her company against the janator. She had just applied for a management position with her company, and even though the claim is false, we are afraid that this will hurt her career with her company. Is this ground for leagal action against the janitor? Can the janitor's parent company (a thrid party) also be held responsable?

Since your wife has suffered no damages, she has no cause of action against either the janitor or his employer.

IF she should at some point suffer actual damages that she can conclusively PROVE are a direct result of this complaint, AND she can PROVE that the janitor LIED (as opposed to being mistaken - maybe someone else did these things and he honestly believed it was your wife) THEN maybe she can take action against the janitor (although not his employer - THEY didn't do anything to her or cause him to do anything to her).

The burden of proof will be on her.
