What is the name of your state? California. Sold car to reputable dealer. Turned in the DMV liability form correctly. Dealer turned in their form with misinformation on it. Car sold at auction. New owner did not register with DMV. They got 8 parking tickets in LA. LA parking enforcement checked license plate with DMV and they incorrectly told them (and continue to tell them) we were the owners at the time. My city DMV manager faxed and called DMV to have them correct their mistake. They won't. Car dealer wrote letter stating they purchased the car from us before parking tickets, taking responsibility. Sent this letter to DMV. Sent this letter, copy of DMV release of liability form properly submitted, copy of fax from local DMV stating we're not owner to LAPD Parking enforcement and explaination. Was told they understand we were not the owners at time of ticket, but continue to send us harassing letters, while on the phone repeatedly tell us to ignore the letters. State Assemblywoman contacted DMV and parking enforcement and was told it was understood we were not the owners at time of parking ticket and a letter to clear us was promised. That letter never came. More threatening letters continue to arrive in the mail. Have talked to parking enforcement mananger and she said not to worry about the letters, she's going to clear it all up. But, doesn't. Talked to Sheriff's office and they promised to take care of the problem, but have not been able to do anything with parking enforcement to clear it up. There seems to be no end in sight since there apparently is a statute of limitation for rape and child molesters, but no such limitation for people falsely accused of parking violations. Any suggestions?

Q: Any suggestions?

A: Yes. Keep doing what you say you have been doing in your post. The squeaky wheel gets the grease (although I am not clear what rape and child molestation has to do with parking).
