I currently live in the Uk and I have been working at the same work place for over five years and have always got on with all colleagues until recently. Before Christmas a neighbour nudged into my car and left a mark on my passenger side front bumper. My neighbour’s car is blue and marked the side of my bumper. I have not had time to repair this but I was recently accused of damaging a colleague’s car in the staff car park. The colleague did not confront me on this matter, but there were rumours spread and also things written on the walls. The message stated clearly that it was my car that hit this colleague’s car by mentioning my name, car registration and colour. This was not enough for the colleague, later on that day he posted a message on an advice forum, printed it out and personally left it where I work.
His evidence of this incident being that the colour of his car is on mine, and vice versa. As I explained earlier the paint on my bumper is blue while my colleague’s car is green. He has clearly stated that it is green paint on my bumper, but I know for a fact it is not. This colleague has repaired his car, but I would like legal advice on suing for slander. What evidence would I need and is it possible to sue?
