Family screwing family on a Quit deed home

a friend was able to pick up home from the owner who has no family on a quit deed title change . As he couldn,t do this money wise himself sister and husband made the offer to take care of the title and secure a loan to pay for whatever was owed and the needed repairs to the house . The deal was sister managed the money while 2 brothers lived in and made a needed repairs to the house ( major work was done ) The home would become a rental or be sold with the 2 brothers getting some cash up front and a 50/50 split on the any profit made . 85% done and sister and brother-in-law now are saying they own the house and the 2 brothers are out of everything they put into it , an offer was made to "give them $150,000 cash " to walk away and be quite , homes in this area are selling for $480,000 to $600,000 with comparible floorplans and condition . The 2 brothers had to this point be doing all of the repair and remodel work on Sisters home and their 4 retails for free , Can they put Liens on these jobs for no-payment or what-ever and do they have any action they can take here ? or are these guys just screwed ? HELP please

**A: the 2 brothers were merely hired contractors.
