My wife and I took our 4 kids on a vacation and when we were coming home, we stopped at a fast food restaurant and ordered chicken sandwiches, hamburgers, and little pieces of chicken. My wife was half way through her chicken sandwich when she said something was wrong - she looked and it was still raw. We ended up at an out-of-state hospital with all six of us being admitted because we had been eating in a darkened car and were unsure of what the kids and myself had already injested, let alone what my wife had eaten. It ruined our vacation, we had to spend an extra night in a hotel, it traumatized our kids (ages 2,4,6,& 8).The restaurant's insurance company has sent a letter saying that they are willing to negotiate with us. How do I put a price tag on this?

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

You definitely don't do it yourself. I am sure the very fact the food was raw breaks almost every health code out there and probably triggers some sort of statutory damages. You also need to take into consideration your medical bills, consequential damages like your extra night hotel stay and any pain and suffering you may have felt during this ordeal --> stomach pumping, etc?

You need a lawyer to put together all of these factors and come out with a fair settlement. The reason they are so quick to negotiate is because they KNOW they were in the wrong.

Try attorneypages.com or contact your state bar association and ask for lawyer refferal. You don't need to spend much on a lawyer to help you figure out what you should ask for.

This gives new meaning to the term "fast food."
