Father...himself... child support

I want to know does a mother have to put her child's father on child support or can he do it himself? State: Texas

A father can sign up to pay child support even if mom hasn't asked for it. In fact in my opinion that would be a good thing to do. What if later down the line the mom decides she wants child support. The father who will have to pay it could possibly owe arrears going back to when the child is born. Also, that is a way of tracking payments. More importantly it is the fathers responsibility as well as the mom to make sure that his child/dren is taken care of. To sign up for child support just contact your local child support agency.

it also cuts down on the leverage game that some CPs play with the NCPs.

give me what i want or i will go for support, back support, more support - you name it, it has probably been used more than once.

if the father were to establish the order, there are no idle threats that the CP could use. everything is straight forward and upfront. and it definitely shows love and respect, not to mention genuine concern for the child when he does do this.
