What is the name of your state? OR

I live in a multi family housing unit which adjusts my rent according to my gross yearly income. This year they have informed us we made 27k and have raised our rent substantially by about $140 dollars, but when I calculate my grossly income with my roommate, the number is more around 22k. I have signed the certification already but my roomate has not, is there any way we can now dispute this number and have them recalculate our income? We're going to go in there tomorrow and try to figure out how they calculated that number. How should we approach the landlady about this? And since I signed the certification already, do we have any legal recourse to dispute the calculation of our income? I really would appreciate some advice tonight on this. Thank you.

Go back and ask for an explanation of the calculation of the 27K.

Have roommate sign the certification with notation you think the 27K SHOULD be 22K and request an explanation. Keep a copy of the certification.

Then keep up pressure for explanation...and pay the increase.
