What is the name of your state? CA

I have a federal tax lien filed against me, and when I spoke with an atty, he told me to get a copy of it. How do I go about doing that? I asked him, and he said since my ex is an escrow officer, that I could ask him since he has access to various title companies...but I would really rather avoid having him do anything for me...unless it is absolutely necessary.

Was it a tax attorney you consulted with? Are you attempting to ascertain the tax lien itself, or whether or not it has been perfected against a specific asset?

It was a tax atty. I recently divorced and am trying to find out exactly what is owed. There are a few factors in this as well..for example, my ex's father actually used my ex's ssn for a job that he was working during 1 of the years that we owe for...and it is actually about 1/2 the amount that my husband and I owe.

As far as the tax lien itself, I guess it would be that I am ascertaining the tax lien itself. I want to figure out what I need to do to get it off my credit, and taken care of...since I am trying to get my life back on track after the divorce.

Then if it was a joint tax return, (which is the only way that it would be on your credit), then simply call the IRS and ask for the information.
