i live in ohio. my ex owes back child support to me and to the state for when i was on assistance. when they took his federal tax refund the state kept it for their arrearages. I thought under the new federal child support laws i was supposed to get mine first after all i'm raising the children now not the state. My child support agency case worker evenn told me i was getting it. well my case worker was switched and i didn't get it. i appealled but
they stuck to their guns about the state getting paid first. my questiopn is who is legally correct. i want to persue this matter
futher. if the agency is correct how can a regular citizen like myself get the state law changed? we working mothers need
this money now. Not ten years form now when our children arwe grown.

to the best of my knowledge the Gov will always be paid back first. May not be fair but I believe that is the way it is.

Good Luck;)
