i went to my doctor about a year ago and for some reason the doctor had to leave for the day and i was not seen, i paid my co payment as always, and sense it wasn't a real emergency to see him that day i agreed to come back another day and was told that i would have a co payment credit on my next visit, well i had an appointment on the sept/12 and remembered the credit so i didn't bring any money with me , but when i got there and was called they said i had to pay my co payment i reminded them that i had a copayment credit from a while back, she looked it up and said it was applied to a balance that i owed, i assured her that this was a mistake because i always paid my copay and the insurance took care of the rest, she checked and said that the balance was for my 22 year old daughter (she doesn't live with me) and because she used your address the money had placed on her balance, and sense it's been over a year they couldn't go into the compurter and change anything and if i didn't have a copay for today i couldn't see a doctor, so i was refused service. what are my lagal options?

You contact the AMA and then you call a lawyer for a free consultation to see if there any damages you can recover.

www.attorneypages.com

Then when all is said and done you contact the Insurance Company and inform them what happened.

Thanks Lawrat!
I didn't think about the AMA, But I did contact an Attorney and am waiting for a reply. This isn't about money mine you and I love my daughter, it's the Principle, had I known what they did I would have had the copayment with me, but what upset me most was the refusal to let me see the Doctor because I didn't have the $17 copayment and they owed me a $17 credit, It's crazy.

And since you obviously love your daughter, and she obviously loves you, and she obviously benefited (rightly or wrongly) from the error in billing, why don't you just get your $17.00 from your loving daughter.

Case closed.
