What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arkansas

I read in the local paper that the prosecuting attorney filed felony charges against my ex-husband that has custody of our minor children. He was charged with "Theft of public funds". My question is what could his sentence be and do I need to get ready to take custody of the children( they are 17 and 16)?

"Filing charges" is a long way from "found guilty," which is still a ways off from "sent to prison."

I'd sit tight for a while, IMO.

The kids could easily be over 18 by the time the case is decided.
Well...at least the older one could. I am not so certain about the 16 year old.

If dad is going to be out on bail, (which seems likely because it appears to be a white collar crime) then really there is nothing much that you can do until/unless he is convicted.
