Hi. I have a few questions about Idaho's laws regarding burglary.

Is opening a cash register in a store burglary? No cash was stolen out of the register due to the fact that an employee of the business walked in and interrupted. The police said it was felony burglary. He also said it was 5 yrs.

So, is it part of his 'scary cop' BS? Someone told me that under those circumstances, criminal mischief was a more likely charge than felony (or any kind of) burglary.
