I live in Harris County, Texas (Outside city limits of Houston). We own an acre of unrestricted land. We are not part of any HOA.
Last year they began developing the 30+ acres behind our house. We were approached by the developer to pay for a fence. They were going to put up a 6ft fence. We paid $1300 for a 8ft Fence to be built on OUR property.
Now the builder is developing behind our house. They have been very rude and disrespectful with noise, dust, and trash. They told us they would stop working at 7pm, but constantly work late into the night. We are fed up and put up small signs that we screwed into the fence that point in the direction of the new homes that say "Stop the noise".
They just sent us a letter saying that is a Shared fence and that the signs must be removed immediately. We don't want to get into a fight with these guys, but we also want to know our rights.
The fence is on our property. Do they have any right to the fence or any right to have us remove signs that are on the fence (on our side)?
Thanks for your time. This site is a great resource!
