My neighbor put up a fence 1 foot from our shared property boundary. He told me that I could attach to his fence post when I fence in my yard. I'm concerned that if he gets mad at me, he'll take my fence off his post. I'm also wondering if I'd be best served by putting up my own post, but that will have to be put on his property or else we'll have a 1 foot gap in fencing. I'm wondering if a written statement from him giving me permission to attach to his fence post is sufficient or if I need a formal easement drawn up and filed. Thanks! What is the name of your state?
