in Louisiana, is it possible to own shares in a corporation with out being a guarantor on a loan for the corporation?

Liability of shareholders

Yes it is. If you maintain the corporation's legal status properly, and avoid personally guaranteeing the corporation's obligations, the corporation, and not you, would be solely responsible for its own obligations
