is there any way to legally remove my name from a lease when i share the lease with a roommate without having him sign me off of the lease?

No. Not without his consent. Either remain for the duration of your lease, request to sublease, request to find someone to take over your lease, or simply move out while still paying the remaining portion of your lease.
