What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kansas
Once again someone has a burr under their saddle about on street parking.
In our subdivison, working class, many families park on the street. I park my HVAC service van in front of my house because my driveway is full.
The city sent a letter asking that residents keep as many cars off the street as possible. Many don't want to jockey cars and will park one in the drive and other(s) in the street. The stated problem is that firetrucks and snow plows can't safely go down our streets. (the streets are about two blocks long)
I've driven all five of our streets and on four where cars parked across from each other. There is plenty of room to drive our city's trucks between the cars. I personally think someone just wants to "clean up" the neighborhood.
I'm going to the next council meeting. I used to go to the school board and council meetings but they would alway go into private secession when talking about anything important. But I'm going this time.
I will measure the streets. I'll also measure between the cars. I'll also have the diminsions of the city trucks. Speed limit on theese street is 20 MPH and state they can not get the truck up to speed whether the streets are clear or not. Plus,IMO, snow plows will be breaking the speed laws if they go 20 MPH. If the streets are snow and ice covered the speed limit is reasonable and prudent.
Any advice on what else I can do?
Thank you
Lynn
