I am currently employed in one of the major aerospace companies.
I remember signing some form to give my employer the patent rights.
I have an idea that might lead to a patent, but in a different field. I mean not related to what I do in my current position.

Does my employer takes that patent too?

Have the agreement you signed reviewed by a lawyer first. And keep perfecting your invention so you can get it filed. If it is in a totally separate field, like you are in aeropace engineering for a cat food, it should be no problem. BUT .....
