Hello, I’m from Washington State.

First:
My wife & I have been separated since Oct of 2011. I was just served with a bunch of filings for a Legal Separation. One of those documents is an “Order to Show Cause re Payment of Filing Fee (ORTSC)”. In the document is says that I must appear on March 29 to have it decided if I should have to pay for the filling fee which is $280. How can I defend against this? How can they charge me for the filing fee when I’m not the one that filed?

Second:
Is there a way that I can respond to the Separation that would convert the process to a Dissolution instead?

Thank you very much for your input. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
