What is the name of your state? Connecticut

Hello. How do I go about having my aunt file for guardianship of me. She lives in Massachusetts and I live in Connecticut. Do I have to wait until I turn 16? I want this done right so no one gets in trouble with legal issues. I was reccomended me to have her file for guardianshp of me. IT's very stressful living here at my house and there are many problems. What do I need to do to get prepared for this and how do i go about doing this? Please help me!! Thank you so much.

What do your parents think of the Idea ?

If they do not approve it may be difficult , since the Party Petitioning would have to prove your Parents unfit at this time to care for you, and two, there are 2 States involved.

Thanks for your help, but I need to let you know that my parents don't know that I am planning this. My sister has new guardians too after leaving. Do I have to wait until I am 16 you know? My mom has a drinking problem and they are never open to me and I have no one anymore. The judge knows this in my town and lots of my mom's ex friends and my sister and my aunts and uncles agree i need a safer environment. What do you reccomend?

Do you know if the People that have guardianship of your sister is Court Order.
What reason does your sister have guardian(s) ?

Your aunt should consult an attorney .

You can't do this yourself. If guardianship were to be granted, you don't have to wait until 16 to have a Guardian. Your aunt would have to Petition the Court.

You also might try attending ala-teen, a support group for teens of adult alcoholics . It may help you sort through your troubles, give you understanding why an alcoholic needs their alcohol ( it's an addiction - hard to break ), and have support from teens your own age going through the same things .

My parents gave my sister the option to leave, or to stay home and abide the rules and i'm hapyp she left because she has a better, happer life. She requested emancipation but failed and her friends offered to be guardians over her. So, yes it is a court order I believe. Thanks for your help again. Where is this program found (ALA)? And, does my aunt need to go to her town hall to request guardianship or does she go to mine? Thank you for your help once again :-D

Your local phone book should have a number for alcoholics anonymous, they could probably give you info. on ala-teen , or if your still in school which you should be regularly, as your school's guidance councilor .

She most likely would have to Petition in your Jurisdiction. She should call the Family Court Clerk's to find out how.

Also, if you put into consideration that my sister has left and she has new guardians the judge would IMO think that my parents are doign something wrong. He also told my parents that he could send my sister home, but he said there's nothing that they could do from keeping her from leaving again. Thought I might include that bit of information too if it makes any difference  Thanks
