I was divorced in Sept.2000,She got the house the kids and support. In Oct.She moved out and left me with it all.I filed for emergency custody of the kids and the home.I recently was awarded temporary custody of the kids and house and she was ordered to pay 125.00 amonth for child support. Now,my question, who gets to claim the children on taxes and who can claim the intrest on the home. She never transferred any title or anything and everything is in my name.I live in Georgia

My response:

The payor of child support gets to take the Federal and State deductions, if the total yearly support is more than 50%. The payor of the mortgage gets to take the interest deduction.
