Coming to the end of a long and unhappy apartment renovation. I held back 3.4% ($1,018) to make sure everything was done satisfactorily. GC came on Wednesday to fix the last mistake (calibrating the thermal shower valve mechanism) and wants final payment on Monday.
However, when he left, I saw that the new shower trim was dented. He or the plumber might have damaged it that day, or it happened previously and was not noticeable because they had put the handle on upside down.
What are my rights and what are his rights? He was extremely angry about giving me time to see if all was satisfactory after the fix on Wednesday. When I noticed the dent, I tried to reach California Faucets but they are off for the 4-day week-end.
I am on my own here and I am rather afraid of him. I would be very grateful on guidance on the best way to handle the situation.
