Hi. I am in Illinois and recently moved out of a roommate situation. I received my deposit refund back yesturday from my old roommates and included were the copies of bills I owed for. Long story short, my deposit was $750... they took out the typical bills which was alright... taking my depostit refund down to about $400. They did not include a copy of a receipt for an ad for a new roommate, but charged me $51. They did not include a copy of an acutal invoice from carpet cleaning, rather an estimate was included for the price of $239 for my portion (total was split 3 ways). Once you take out the $290 my total refund was down to $140. Since they did not give me an actual receipt for the carpet cleaning, but only an estimate, from 2 days ago, and no receipt for the roommate ad - what can I do?? Is it worth going after my old roommates for the money taken in question?
PLEASE HELP. Thanks so much!
