An LLC that provides legal funding has asked me to find investors willing to invest in joint venture agreements.
These joint venture agreements involve potential investors receiving information on opportunities to provide funds to plaintiffs so they can meet their financial obligations while their case is being processed.
The investors decide what cases they wish to participate in and the amount they wish to invest.
The investors are paid back, if and when, the plaintiff wins the case. The investors risk losing their investment if the plaintiff loses, so it is not a loan.
The LLC are willing to pay me for helping them find sources of expansion capital.
I am concerned about inadvertently violating laws and leaving myself open to legal action even if the LLC principals agree to hold me harmless.
It seems like a good opportunity, but I would hate to step on a " landmine".
Any advice would be welcome.
