:confused:What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

So here it is. I am out of college for 3 years with a bachelor's in business. I started with my current employer (second job) as a global pricing administrator and was promoted to financial analyst within 3 months. 1 year after starting I was promoted again to plant controller with the finance team reporting to me. I am 25 and one of the girls working there has no degree and has been there 9 years. I am being asked to fire her. It will be difficult because she is much older, has been there far longer than me, has 2 kids, and just bought a house. She will probably have a difficult time finding a job within 200 miles making half of what she makes. I have to let her go because I found out she has been doing her personal taxes on company time in the office for 4 consecutive years. She spends about 50% personal time on the computer and 50% work. She does get alot of work done but is used to supervisors that dont bother to know what she is doing and leave her alone. It is partly her previous boss's fault but at the same time her ways are poisoning my good staff members. I guess it is really difficult because I was her peer for a year and now I am her boss. I guess I have to keep it business and less personal. Either move ahead or get left behind so to speak. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
