My home has flooded the last 7 out of ten years I have lived here. I have been trying to get help in solving the flooding problem. Twice my town has told me they have fixed the problem, but it still continues to flood. I and my neighbors have a case number with the emergency management for flooding. The town does not clean the drains or return any phone calls, or come and check the situation out, when I call and complain. I have already did an application for a home improvement loan, but since they did not fix the problem (like they said they did) I am afraid to put any more money into this home. The flooding is very bad here I am unable to get out either of my doors. I am afraid there is damage done to the foundation. My question is can I sue the town I live in, for damages that have occurred due to the flooding? Please HELP!!

Is the property in a flood zone? If so the lender would have required flood insurance. Get an attorney to write a letter and then file suit against the town and your elected officials. Talk to your attorney and neighbors about filing a class action lawsuit. Write to FEMA for continuing help and HUD www.hud.gov for additional recommendations.
