What is the name of your state? Florida. I am a step parent. My husbands ex-wife has custody of their two minor children , since we moved back to Florida from Ohio we have not seen his children , due to not being able to find them or their mother. This past December my husband and I received a call from his ex-wife's mother asking if we would like to speak to the children. Both of us were ecstatic ! We then lost contact again after this , until 1/16/2008. My husband and I were asked if we wanted the children because their mother had disappeared and left the children with her. To sum the rest of it up.
My husband and I have filed for a modification of the existing case as "emergency custody", we got D.C.F. involved to do an abandonment investigation, a letter from the grandmother stating why she brought the children to us . My husband and I are waiting for a court date , D.C.F. (department of children and families) found that it was abandonment.
His ex-wife has now come back around saying " she has been in protective custody" (yeah right) , she says she will fight him and i on this. I am curious as to what my husband and I should do and if we have already taken that correct measures . Thankyou in advance!What is the name of your state?
