FOID Card application issue?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois - Kane County!

I applied for my FOID card and received a letter that I need to get a certified disposition document for the circuit clerk for a charge against me in 1991. I was 14 at the time.

I submitted my "request for research" to the circuit clerk but it has been over a week without a response.

I do not remember all the details of the case in 91 but I know I paid restitution and thought it was done with. My buddy who got in trouble with me for this same thing, applied for his FOID card and got it without this coming up.

Is this something I need to hire a lawyer for to get it expunged? Or do I just wait for my "request for research" from the circuit clerk?

Not sure how this didn't show up on my buddies record other than he had a better lawyer back in the day.
