You are correct, the LL must be allowed in at "reasonable" hours, usually between normal business hours. You can deny them access if it is obviously beyond normal hours. You cannot deny them access during normal business hours though... Most states deem 24 hrs. notice to access the unit, but it may be different in your state... Verify with your states LL/T laws... You do not have to clean for them, you can leave your place the way it is...
I have a couple more questions...first of all can anyone tell me where to find laws about this? I have searched the landlord tenant laws for NC but it doesnt really cover this stuff and I don't know what laws it would be covered under...if someone can tell what direction to look so I can do the research...
Also now that we have been here a couple of months a few more concerns have popped up I would like to know what my rights are. First of all the landlord is going through a realtor to sell the house so I thought I would be dealing with these two ladies....but all of a sudden every tom dick and harry in town is showing up at my door (trust me some of these people are scary looking) I'm not sure but I believe it is fairly easy to get a realtor liscense these days and if I'm not wrong can't you even get your liscense online now. So do I have to let ALL of these people in? One lady showed up the other day by her self and starts looking in my closets and stuff. Also today some people came and they were opening closets and cupboards. So 3 questions...
Do I have to let everyone with a realtor liscense into my house or just the ones from the realty company on the sign out front? If the answer is yes I do have to then what kind of protection do I have...
Second if the realtor shows up and has no people with them to show the house to do I have to allow them in just to inspect my home by themselves? I mean showing it to prospective buyers is one thing but wasting my time because you are curious is another isn't it?
Thirdly do I have 6to allow these people to open cupboards, drawers, and closets? I mean you can see it is a cupboard from the outside! you dont have to open it...my stuff is in there for goodness sake!
Thanks for any help I can get and if anyone can tell me where to find laws about this stuff I appreciate it!!!
