So as the title says, I was forced to drop out of community college in my state of NJ back in 2013 due to medical issues. I was maintaining grades for a while but missed too many classes, went to drop them all and start over, and was told it was too late to drop. I couldn't attend anymore and failed out.

I appealed the decision to not allow me to drop and was rejected.

I was receiving financial aid at the time, and the school informed me my aid was pulled for having failed out. I spoke to the school who said if I didn't pay they wouldnt allow me access to my transcripts, so I just took it as a loss of time and money, and moved on. All but forgot about it until today.

Three years later I get an invoice for $1,100, of which I cannot afford to pay since my medical issues are still going on and money is very tight.

How do I go about dealing with this?

Am I going to be sued?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you

Yes, you will probably be sued unless it is a Federal Loan, in which case they will try to collect or eventually take it out of your SS.
