Hi, I am from Washington State.
This is the first time I have posted on this site and do not know where to turn.
What do you think of this scenario.
I am in court on a Monday. The prosecutor has become aware of the fact that I have an appointment for sugery on that Thursday for a potentially life threatening condition. My public defender tells me that I am being given a choice. Either sign away my rights in the form of a Statute of Limitations Waiver or the prosecutor will be asking for me to be thrown in jail immediatly. That means I am aware that I would miss my sugery and am forced to sign the waiver for fear of the consequenses of not having the surgery.
Since having me sign that waiver they have been kicking me around and I am being pushed into a corner and do not know where to turn.
Was that not a form of coercion by the prosecutor?
I have no money and do not know where to turn for help. The public defender I have seems to be of little help and i often wonder just who they are working for.
What are my options?
