We got behind in our housepayments
when my husband became ill. We asked for
help from our mortgage company but they
took a long long time to tell us that we didn't
qualify for loss mitagation due to the fact that
we filled a bankruptcy in 1996. By the time we got that answer back, we were so far behind in payments and penalties, now we can't find the funds to catch up.
So on Feb 11,2000
they started forclosure.. how long do we have
to get out of our home?
I am having a hard time finding a place that will accept my pets.
What about my personal belongings, can they
lock us out of the house anytime and we loose our things??

My response:

This is truly a sad situation.

Please look at your foreclosure paperwork carefully, front and back. You should be able to read somewhere on them what your rights, liabilities and time frames are. They may even have to begin an "unlawful detainer" action against you to get you out; however, at some point, you'll have to vacate. I realize house pets are just like our kids, and parting with them is nearly unthinkable. However, the issue is getting a roof over yours and your husband's heads, and the pets just might have to go to the ASPCA, or to a friend, or ....
You will never lose your personal belongings though. A sheriff will, eventually, escort you both out of the house, and may give you just enough time to pack up your things into a truck.

Good luck to you.
