What is the name of your state?I live in Ohio. I've battled Ford Motor Credit since 5/03. My lease was paid off in 7/03. However, when I turned it in there was overage on the miles and there was a charge because it was not normal wear and use?? Since I did not have the money to pay that, they were to set up payments. That never happened and they demanded it in full, about $4500. Now, I received notice from an attorney that a judgement has been filed. The exhibit he submitted was the original contract, which has been paid. I've not paid this debt because of the collection practices of Ford and have thrown around sueing them myself for calling my mother and brother and telling them that I was behind (and I was 60 days behind, prior to the lease ending, but paid everything off by the date the lease was to end). They informed them what I owed, they were going to reposses my vehicle, etc. What should I expect if I don't pay them and a judgement is granted?

*** Gee, where to start?
First, they will likely start garnishing your paycheck.
And here are some other fun things they can do:
- they can also file a lien against any non-exempt assets that you have.
- they can seize funds in your bank account(s).
- they can seize any non-exempt assets and sell them at auction.

And guess what.... since an Ohio judgment is vaid for TWENTY ONE years (and even then, renewable), they get a LONG time to go after you.... all the while, the judgment accrues interest at 10% per year!!!

Thanks Jetx for responding. I'm not contesting that I owe it, I'm not stating I wouldn't pay it. The payment in full is what I wasn't able to do then and can't do now. Since I don't have a checking acct in my name, that's out, since I'm self employed, garnishment of my wages is also out. Can you lead me to where I can find what is non exempt in Ohio?

Yes Paradise, I am aware I owe them.
