What is the name of your state? CT

Hello. I am currently in a joint mortgage. I am looking into getting a new mortgage in my own name for a new purchase of a different house. I am wondering, if the original joint mortgage were to foreclose, could they go after my new house? Thank you.

**A: yes, if when the foreclosed property sold, the proceeds were not enough to pay the mortgage and associated foreclosure, legal and court costs whole. The lender could get a deficiency judgement and attach it to your new home as a judgement lien. Then at their option they could foreclose on the lien causing a second foreclosure action against you.
