What is the name of your state?
Pennsylvania
I am a Canadian living legally in the US since 1999, in PA since 2005. I have been divorced since 2001. I was not a Canadian resident at the time of the divorce. My former spouse has secured a Judgement against me in Canadian court. She attempted, unsuccessfully, to enforce the judgement in New York State, where her application was denied for juristictional reasons as well as lack of service to me. She may now attempt to collect in PA. There were no children in the marriage and I am appealing the Canadian judgement on the grounds of a change in my personal financial situation. She is permitted un der Canadian law to attempt collection of the Judgement during the appeal. Does PA law recognise Canadian matrimonial judgements? What is my best and lowest cost option to delay enforcement of the judgement during the appeal process?
